If you diffused indie-pop, jazz and blues in a teapot, you'd probably get something like The Darjeelings, four young high school girls from Melbourne. The Darjeelings haven't been writing or playing songs for very long, but from their confident stage presence and intricate harmony laden songs, you wouldn't know it. Formed in 2011, the girls have performed at venues such as the Sidney Myer Music Bowl, The Espy, 303 and the Wesley Anne as well as festival shows at Moomba and the Darebin Community and Kite Festival.
The Darjeelings are now ready to officially release their debut self-titled EP, produced by Benjamin McCarthy (Pete Murray, Kate Miller-Heidke, Gin Wigmore and Megan Washington). The EP features six of the most infectious pop songs you're going to hear all year, with jazzy vocals influenced by the likes of Ella Fitzgerald, catchy piano riffs and sugary sweet four part harmonies. These three and a half minute pop songs are bound to win every schoolboy's heart!
