MAKRELE. That is: Felix, David, Tobi and Alex – probably the most popular German boys’ names in the early nineties. Born and raised in Düsseldorf, they started a band in primary school and have been making music ever since. Even when their respective university degrees and jobs forced them into a long-distance relationship, they did not give up on their music. Why? The clue is in the name. Just like the mackerel that has to keep moving to stay alive, the four Makrele-Boys need music like they need air.

This year, they released their album ‘Öffne alle Fenster’. Makrele defines their music as German ‘power pop’ and lists artists like Jupiter Jones, Mikroboy and Muff Potter as their main musical influence. This unplugged version of ‘U-Boote’ is one of the softer songs of their album. Give it a listen!

MAKRELE.
