DEAR READER - BEND

PRESENTED BY GREG BARNES

Previously BalconyTV's tip of the week; Dear Reader released an album in 2006 called The Younger under the name Harris Tweed Authority. A few years and a name change later they have developed into a really promising band. Hailing from Johannesburg, South Africa they were most recently on Irish soil supporting Lambchop on their European tour.

In early 2008 they hooked up with Brent Knopf of the Portland band, Menomena, to produce their new record. Some of the resulting songs can be heard on their myspace page. Their sound is reminiscent of Feist, Joan as a Policewomen, Aimee Mann, Cathy Davy and they produce well crafted, beautifully arranged songs that perfectly accompany singer Cherilyn MacNeils amazing voice. Check out Never Goes for an example of their full range. Watch out for Replace Why With Funny coming soon.
