Cider Wasps are a young four-piece alternative rock band from Dungarvan, Co. Waterford who consist of brothers Danny and Tommy Dunford, Stephen Keating and Colin Drummey. They have been playing together with just over 3 years and in that time space they have managed to achieve quite a lot despite the lead singer still currently being in secondary school. Over the years they had received mentoring and guidance from the late Dennis Sheehan who was U2′s world tour manager for over 30 years.
Their music consists of strong harmonising vocals with all 4 members singing, melodic and distorted guitar riffs and a mix of heavy drum beats and basslines. They draw influence from the likes of Kings of Leon and Biffy Clyro when it comes to writing their own music.
Some of their most notable gigs to date include a headline slot in the Róisín Dubh, playing the main stage of the Clonmel Busking Festival, being the main band at Deise Day 2016 and playing as support to both Original Rude Boys and Walking on Cars. Back in 2014 they also won first place in WLR FM’s Credit Union Battle of the Bands live on air.
The band launched their debut EP entitled ‘HERE’ in the Autumn of 2015, it has since received quite a lot of favourable airplay and reviews from the likes of WLR FM, KCLRFM, 98FM, FlirtFM and even stretched as far as Australia on Phoenix FM.
In the beginning of 2016 the band signed a management deal onto Breakout Music Agency and have since started hitting the Irish festival scene while gigging all over the country in various venues and colleges.
