Formed in early 2013, this three-piece indie-pop band is already making waves. Biddlewood is Bridget McArthur (vocals, bass), Tali Harding-Hone (vocals, keys, guitar) and Isabel Campbell-Taylor (drums, vocals), all 16 years old and hailing from Melbourne’s inner north. The trio met in primary school and had dreams from that early stage of one day forming a band, if only to use one of the band names that they were so fond of coming up with. They came up with the name Biddlewood in 2010 from a misheard lyric in a Vampire Weekend song. Biddlewood have played at several festivals including the Hard Yards festival in the Yarra Valley (which Bridget calls the highlight of their career so far) and the Boroondara Youth Day Festival in Camberwell, as well as at events for family and friends. What makes Biddlewood such an impressive band is their unique songwriting style. Tali and Bridget are prolific songwriters who write on an incredible variety of topics from falling in love with a church minister (“Preacher”) to pageant queens (“Beautiful Girl”), drought (“Waiting”) and small town isolation (“California”).
