Introducing Sydney's freshest sibling-duo act: 'Hannah and Josh'
Brought to you by the happy moments in life and wrapped up in smiles, these goofily cool siblings are bound to bring you many beautiful sounds and plenty to talk about.
In September 2011, Hannah and Josh joined musical forces to create a new 'chill-pop' sound after years of individual projects. The inevitable won and the obvious was realised in this moment with two musical powerhouses uniting in the name of family and music.
Hannah Matysek (self titled) has been an acoustic solo act to reckon with on the Sydney scene since the beginning of 2009, starting her gigging career as a sixteen year old school girl.
Having graced the stages of the Sydney Opera House, Sydney Entertainment Centre and some of the country's most iconic and intimate venues including The Basement in Sydney and The Esplanade Hotel in St Kilda, Hannah's credentials as a singer-songwriter and performer are backed by her graduation from the prestigious Talent Development Project in August 2011. During this time, Hannah workshopped with some of Australia's finest industry writers, figures and artists and worked with Sony Australia in recording her track 'Oh Beautiful'.
Hannah Matysek received great exposure in her solo act in 2011 having played at special functions and in the foyer of the Sydney Entertainment Centre supporting the likes of Kylie Minogue and Good Charlotte. Charity has never been too far from mind in Hannah's music career, having played at the Every Woman Festival for International Women's Day and events for Animals Australia.
Joshua Matysek was one half of Sydney electronic band AEONS, taking their act to the stages of some of Sydney's biggest clubs and venues in 2009; Oxford Art Factory, World Bar, Spectrum, Candy's Apartment and more. AEONS played at Parklife 2009, one of Sydney's biggest festivals alongside Empire of The Sun, La Roux, MSTRKRFT, Art Vs Science and many more.
Having been commissioned by Wrigleys and 5 Gum to record a song for their national launch, AEONS created the track 'Beyond The Satellites' which formed the basis for their debut EP 'Beyond The Satellites' which was recorded and produced by Diamond Cut. AEONS released this album May 2010 which was followed up by the 'Dark Light Tour' in August 2010 alongside Misere.
Since AEONS, Josh has developed himself as a DJ and producer, playing alongside industry greats at various Sydney venues, including Kylie Minogue's 'Aphrodite - Les Folies Tour' in 2011 at the Sydney Entertainment Centre.
Hannah and Josh wrote their first 'Hannah and Josh' song 'Take Heart' in September 2011, producing something of a laid back pop experience from within their suburban Sydney home. Continuing in the dream of making music, 'Hannah and Josh' are working on their first album together to be released September 2012 and followed by a national tour.

Bio
Her debut album is 'To The Horses', a collection of 11 songs that duck and weave through a heady mix of early rock 'n' roll, blues, and rockabilly, serving up fantastic tales of love, lust, heartbreak and the importance of a good guitar - all delivered by one of the most undeniably distinctive voices and charming characters in Australian music. Recorded and mixed over a grand total of four days with her band at a studio in Sydney, the self-produced 'To The Horses' showcases Lanie's irrepressible talent for crafting songs that are as raw and gritty as they are warm and inviting. Written as individual pieces then recorded quickly in a manner reminiscent of years gone by -- four people in a room playing music together, no more and no less -- the songs sound live and alive. "As in my writing sessions, when I record, I much prefer to capture what's happening then and there to make sure the rawness of the music and band energy isn't lost in obsessive re-takes!" says Lanie. "I love recording with my band all together in the same room." The band Lanie speaks of is the talented bunch she often tours with, including Zoe Hauptman (double bass and ukulele ''the best uke solo EVER'' recorded on 'Don't Cry), Aidan Roberts (electric guitar and backing vocals) and Paul Derricott (drums and percussion). Other notable musicians to lend a hand on 'To The Horses include Jez Mead, Ashley Naylor and Tim Rogers among others.
'To The Horses' is the culmination of many years of writing and a whole lot of touring. At the beginning of 2011, Lanie won a slot on the Sydney Big Day Out line-up thanks to Triple J's Unearthed competition and also gained attention as the voice accompanying the aforementioned Tim Rogers on You Am I's single 'Trigger Finger'. Cramming as much touring, recording and general musical activity into the past 12 months as possible, Lanie has performed sold-out shows at the Sydney Festival and Adelaide Fringe, to a packed Splendour in the Grass stage and toured with the likes of Justin Townes Earle, Clare Bowditch and Fitz and the Tantrums. Somewhere in amongst all that, she found the time to accept an invitation from the one-and-only Jack White to record a couple of tracks in his Nashville studio. The songs were then released on White's own Third Man Records on 7" vinyl as part of the acclaimed Blue Series
