Melbourne’s The Tiger & Me walk a line that threads through indie anthems, folk duos, theatrical electro-pop and driving rock.
The five-piece band features three lead singers fronting a dynamic rhythm section who combine for a highly varied live show, at times bursting with energy, at times whispering ballads. Driven by vocals, keys, guitar, bass and drums, the band has also drawn on ukulele, accordion, banjo, violin and trumpet to create their varied sound.
In 2012 they signed to ABC Music's imprint label “Four|Four” (Tim Rogers, Boy in a Box), before collaborating with ARIA-nominated producer Steven Schram (Little Birdy, The Cat Empire) to create their second full-length album, The Drifter’s Dawn. The record was album of the week on ABC Dig and PBS. The band then joined the roster at Fleming Artists to take to the road for a string of successful tours Australia wide.
A third album is currently in the making, with Steven Schram again behind the console. The recording further evolves the sound of a band that refuses to sit still. Slimming from six to five members and cutting back on instrument-swapping has brought a tighter focus to their sound, with silky electro-pop and swaggering rock beats the result. Stay tuned for a single in 2014 and album in 2015.
“Driven by the trio of voices, which partner effortlessly with the underlying music, the record sometimes thunders, it sometimes whispers, the plethora of melody, the hooks, bringing you back for more, sticking in your brain as good pop should”
