For a band that's never played a single concert in South America, the Miami-based trio The Rockadictos have a very large following in Argentina.
Credit that to a controversial video with an unflattering portrayal of Argentine president Cristina Fernandez Kirchner in 2013. YouTube labeled "Un Mensaje Mas" as age-restricted due to graphic content, and it went on to garner a quarter-milllion views as the international press reported on the controversy surrounding the video.
An incensed Argentine government demanded that Google take the video down, but Google refused and The Rockadictos continue to rock Miami with their original no-holds-barred latin-infused rock 'n' roll.
Argentine-born Javier Arce, the lead singer and bass guitarist, puts it simply: "We play rock 'n' roll. That's what we do."
The trio is rounded out by lead guitarist Pablo Cobo from Venezuela, and American Jeff Masi on drums.
Formed in 2008 as a local band in the underground circles in South Florida, The Rockadictos have released two albums, "100% Enviciados" in 2011 and "SANDY" in 2013. The album "Sandy," as well as mp3s from that CD, can be purchased on Amazon.com.
The band is going back into the studio shortly to produce a new CD for release in 2015.
