INTERVIEW AND SESSION FILMED FOR BALCONY TV LONDON
PRESENTED BY IVAN BERRY
PRODUCED BY VIDEO-BOX
CINEMATOGRAPHER IVAN OGILVIE
When lead singer Johnny got a job as tea boy at Young Guns Music Management in London, little did he know that this would be the beginning of a new career. On his first (and consequently last day in the office), he heard that management were scouting for new male singers, and cheekily asked them in lunch break for an audition. He was in. His vision was to be in a rock band and so far he was the only member. 18 months later after looking up and down the country for his new band mates, 'The Pictures' were formed!
Individually the band have worked for artists such as Muse, Rihanna, Noisettes, The Zutons, The Streets, Bad Company and Vagabond.
The Pictures entered 'Must Be The Music' on Sky 1 along with 10,000 other musicians and progressed all the way through the competition culminating with a performance to 10,000 people at Wembley Arena and broadcast live on Sky 1. The Pictures were shortlisted to the top 3 of the competition and were voted second behind 'Emma's Imagination'. The Pictures achieved a top 20 in the mainstream charts and a simultaneous 1 & 2 position in the iTunes rock charts.
The Judges' comments...
"You belong on arena tours" -- Dizzie Rascal
"This is a well honed band with a huge future" -- Jamie Cullum
"They've got the stadium sound going already" -- Sharleen Spiteri
The musicians within the band are incredibly talented individually and are all multi instrumental. Combining all these skills you have a formidable act that has been praised as one of the top young pop/rock bands on the music scene in the UK.
Tune in agan!!!
