THE PARLOTONES - PUSH ME TO THE FLOOR

PRESENTED BY MARK LOCKETT

A sold-out 300-date world tour over the last 18 months has brought The Parlotones to the attention of music fans in Germany, Russia, France, Italy, Spain, Austria and the US and after packing out 1000+ capacity venues in the UK by word of mouth alone, this internationally successful band are now set to mount a serious assault on the UKs charts.

From their origins in Johannesburg, South Africa, the rock 4-piece have achieved multi-Platinum-selling success in their home country. They are now set to conquer these shores with their darkly romantic lyrics, atmospheric pop structures and ambitious live show which have been earning a rave response from fans and critics alike. Their recent secret warm-up show in Kentish Town, London attracted nearly double the capacity of the venue, forcing the band to access the stage by climbing over the bar.

The band sell-out 15000+ stadium shows in their home country and the bands profile is such that they were also chosen to play at Live Earth, Africa Day. The subsequent performance was screened to millions all over the world. Their innovative, big-production music videos have been nominated for MTV awards and the band won two awards at the prestigious ISC (International Song Contest), in the US, judged by the likes of Robert Smith, Tom Waits and Rob Thomas.

Music industry showcases at South by South West, MIDEM and Dubai Sound City followed and have firmly established The Parlotones as one of the worlds most exciting new acts. Their success is not limited to their music alone the band have their own brand of wine Giant Mistake which has earned the band a no.1 in the Sunday Times wine list and distribution through major European retailers. Their music has also been made available through Sony Ericisson phones and they have their own branded laptop and a Parlotones meal available from a global food retailer.

In line with the football fever sweeping the UK, the band are currently being played on Sky Sports, and are also talkSPORTs official ambassadors for the World Cup in the UK. They have recorded incidental music for the station and will be contributing weekly in the run up to the finals in June. In Germany they have been chosen by a major TV network to soundtrack their football coverage.

With a sizeable following and genuine buzz building behind the band, they plan the UK release of brand-new single - Life Design - on April 4th. Followed-up by the release of full-length album Stardust Galaxies later in the year, all signs are that in a World Cup year when all eyes are on South Africa, The Parlotones will soon have the world at their feet.
