The Half Landing are a 3 piece band comprised of two brothers, Fergus and Rory Donnellan, and Denny Collins.
Fergus was well known for playing Traditional Irish and contemporary music on several instruments throughout his childhood, and later toured and recorded with the band Rí Rá.
Rory is also well known for his involvement with Rí Rá. Rory has recorded huge varieties of music on several instruments, from Traditional Irish to Indie-Rock, and has toured extensively with The Saw Doctors.
Multi-instrumentalist Denny Collins also has his roots in Irish Traditional Music, with several All-Ireland medals. Denny has played with many top acts such as Michael English, TR Dallas, Declan Nerney and Brendan Shine
In 2017, the boys had their first outing as a trio; they went to Clare Island for Rory’s stag party. They boarded O Grady’s ferry and didn’t even wait to reach the island before an impromptu Trad session broke out. The owner of the ferry began to video the trio and the video went instantly viral online. The following morning, the boys had hit the headlines with a writeup on the Irish Examiner.
The trio began to get a lot of inquiries about their music, and decided it was time to form a band. They soon began to play at bigger venues and were invited to Mid-West Radio to play live on Michael Commins’s radio show. The Half Landing were approached by the Hilton Hotel group to perform at McGettigans, their Irish pub in Dubai.
The Half Landing’s trip to Dubai was a massive success, receiving critical acclaim at home and abroad. Most recently, the boys were approached by Michael English to join him on his new TV show, which they will be recording in the coming weeks.
The Half Landing are currently recording their first album with a mix of Traditional Irish, Bluegrass and Country music.
