Matthew Zeltzer, who makes music under the name of "The American West," comes from California, as the well-known and esteemed author John Steinbeck does, a land of peasants and the working class of coastal cities, where a century-old drought almost became part of everyday life. This barren desert landscape serves Zeltzer as the background of his songs of love and suffering on the threshold of the environmental catastrophe. He is accompanied by Maria Maita-Keppeler.
