PRESENTED BY PETER NEWMAN
Grown from the dry desert landscape of Las Vegas, Nevada, Rusty Maples capture the spirit of the West with their well-crafted blend of tender lyrics, classic themes and energetic folk Americana-inspired pop songs. When asked what imagery best describes Rusty Maples, Blair Dewane (Vocals) says: “The condition of a ditch digger’s hands.” Strong working class music. Voted “Best Indie Rock Band” by Desert Companion magazine and “Best Live Band of 2013” in the Las Vegas Weekly Readers’ Choice Awards, Rusty Maples has climbed to the forefront of the local music scene since its inception just two years ago. In 2012, Rusty Maples released its second EP, Make Way, drawing comparisons to bands like The Lumineers, Mumford and Sons and Kings of Leon. Originally created by Brothers, Blair (vocals) and Ian Dewane (guitar), Mike Weller (bass) and Max Plenke (drums), Rusty Maples have garnered an organic following throughout Las Vegas and the US. The band recently has been on tour with legendary rocker, Sixto Rodriguez (Oscar winning, Searching for Sugarman) and August 2014 Rusty Maples released their third EP, “The Western World”, produced by Minus the Bear’s Alex Rose.
