PRESENTED BY FILIPE PEREZ
Born in Brazil and raised around the world, Rodrigo Del Arc started in music at an early age. As a child he spent time playing his grandfather’s old guitar intuitively and at the age of 11 he wrote his first song. Rodrigo moved often from country to country because his father worked in a cargo ships company and lived in places as distinct as Switzerland and Thailand.
Rodrigo started to look at world cultural differences and it has strongly influenced his songwriting.
His debut album, “A Kind Of Bossa" (2009 ) was well received in Brazil and abroad, especially in Japan and South Korea, where special editions were released. “A Kind of Bossa” also had several tracks on compilations in Europe and Asia, including the famous “Tea for Two”, and had a song on one of the biggest TV dramas of South Korea, “Athena: Goddess of War”.
On his second album, “Novo Ar”, Rodrigo put together original songs about life in the huge and "multicultural” city of Sao Paulo, his city. "Novo Ar" pays tribute to the city (that Rodrigo affectionately calls "The Big Pineapple”) and its cultural differences.
“Novo Ar” floats between Pop, Rock and MPB and fuses rhythmic elements from “Bossa Nova”, “Samba”, “Baião”, “Ijexá” and “Maracatu” to create a soundscape mixing traditional and modern sounds. The CD was recorded in Brazil and mixed fully analog at the legendary "the Mix Room” studios in Los Angeles.
The song “Another Summer” was among the most played for over a week, also guaranteed a new contract in Japan and an invitation to line up in the 2014 edition of a big festival in New York - Brasil Summerfest.
