PRESENTED BY RISHI MAJUMDER

Naadro" is a percussion ensemble from Sri Lanka that uses traditional Sri Lankan and Indian drums together with African and Latin percussion. Rakitha is the founder member of Naadro, ably supported by Gayan Manokumara, Ranga Nuwantha, Uthpala Iroshan, Nupathi Nilambara, Chathuranga Chithrajith, Guyrika Weerasingha and Nuwan Darshana.

Having trained under well-known names like Mr. Piyasara Shilpadhipathi and Mr.Ravi Bandu Vidyapathi, the passionate band of boys inspire their audiences to sit back and experience some exhilarating moments of reverberating rhythm and sound, influenced by Sri Lankan, Indian, African, Mediterranean and Latin percussion rhythms.

Naadro completed their first album and successful concert with renowned flamenco guitarist Roni Benise and acclaimed flutist R.K.Bikramjit Singh in 2008, following which they have toured extensively and featured in many international festivals.

Naadro, like most modern percussionists constantly seeks sounds beyond percussion instruments and tries to incorporate anything and everything that can produce sound as appropriate for the particular creative exercise in order to mould a signature style of percussion. Industrial waste, automobile spare parts, kitchen utensils and other bric-a-brac make their way into their sound.
