PRESENTED BY DOROTTYA TOTH
Morzsa Records is a DIY, apocalyptic baroque-pop ensemble from Budapest, Hungary. Their carefully crafted pop hooks, beaten out of cello, cajon and guitar and squeezed out of accordion, have traveled with them East and West from Ukraine to Kentucky, Germany to Serbia. Their two songwriters come from Texas, and having made permanent residence in post-socialist Europe de l'Est, teamed up with natives of Budapest and Uzhgorod, Ukraine.
With two full-length releases circulating in the discerning hipster snobcircles of Europe and The Internet, they have taken to the road extensively to bring their anarcho-sensual songs of radical heartbreak to the masses. Their beloved roots in post-punk, southern psychedelia, Russian classical and Hungarian underground, carry them upon ancient wings of magic, further into the dark heart of manic-depressive sublimation. They can often be found in the dark basement bars of Budapest, commandeering DJ sets and emptying the room with their shockingly original dance-moves.
Their third full length album struggles now from the underground, wriggling up toward the light of day, which it is destined to find in Summer 2015
