Artist / Band Biography
Mansionair was born when multi-instrumentalist & producer Lachlan Bostock joined with folk singer Jack Froggatt and jazz drummer Alex Nicholls to collaborate on ‘Hold Me Down’ - the chemistry between the trio was instant and ‘Hold Me Down’ hit one million views in just two months. At the tail end of 2016, Mansionair released bristling track ‘Easier’, which has now reached over 12 million streams, a testament to the fan-base they’ve created in such a short period of time. While working on their latest offering, the band collaborated with Seattle duo ODESZA on their lead single ‘Line Of Sight’, which has since climbed Billboard’s Alternative and Dance/Electronic charts and was nominated for a Grammy. On most recent single ‘Astronaut’ (Something About Your Love), Mansionair have broken through onto US Alternative Charts.
The group’s newest track “Violet City” is a highway drift between cold beats and wistful, earworm melody. Written on a visit to Los Angeles, the track is steeped in the pace and aloofness of the city. Froggatt says the song came from feeling out of control in a foreign place and realising he needed to let go in order to find creative flow. “It’s about finding yourself stranded in a place you don’t want to be, trying to reach a goal that seems to be out”
The band is currently on the SiriusXM Alt Nation’s Advanced Placement US Tour featuring with Mikky Ekko and NoMBe.
