PRESENTED BY MARY EGGLESTON

Luke was born and raised in the small coastal town of Port Lincoln on South Australia's west coast. As a child and through to his teens, Luke was lucky enough to travel with his family, living in Ireland, England and throughout Europe. It was then when Luke began to explore and develop his writing, with influences by songwriters such as Bob Dylan, Jeff Buckley, Bon Iver and Nick Drake. " I remember driving in the dark through these old country lanes with Mum and Dad listening to Christy Moore blasting loud from the rear speakers "
In early 2012 Luke decided to quit his job, buy a car and become a full time musician, playing his way up the coast until he found himself in Byron Bay.
Recently, Luke has been working alongside engineer/producer Jordan Power who has worked with artists such as Xavier Rudd, Angus Stone and MT Warning. With help from friends Grant Gerathy from 'John Butler trio' on drums and OJ Newcomb from 'Band Of Frequency' on bass. Luke also features on banjo, vocals, piano and guitar.
Luke has spent the good part of 2013 recording in studios, bedrooms, car parks and beach shacks
around Byron and as a result now has his first album release "sugarcane rd".
The album delivers raw and compelling lyrics with catchy folk hooks on lead and a complementing
rhythm section. The indie/folk album features a collection of 9 songs, some written more than three years ago.
Although the songs were composed over a long period of time, there is a reoccurring sound of loss, love and experience with each track delivered as an innocent short story.
Album expected to be released September 15th 2014.
