Hot on the heels of their debut single, ‘Stigma’, alternative electronic pop duo, KLOAK, are set to raise the bar with this powerful electro-ballad. ‘Remember’ is a song packed with influences from the likes of Seinabo Sey, Sia and Lapsley, and is a collaborative effort between writers Georgia Meek and Gabii Mallett, and Jose Manuel Cubides Gutierrez (Sony Columbia).
This single represents a message to young girls struggling to fit into a group/click at school, and has been titled by KLOAK front-woman Georgia as ‘a message to my
younger self’. As writers, both Georgia and Gabii pride themselves in representing the ‘underdog’ of the social world and feel that music is the best support and escape for people who are going through hardships. ‘Remember is the first song where we feel we have really expressed what we stand for as artists. It’s really personal, and we want our message to be heard’.
Both members came together in London from very different backgrounds, but experienced similar social vindication and suppression, forming one act with a passion to support young girls against prejudice and sexism.
KLOAK have recently returned to London from their first UK tour, during which they received massive interest and praise from BBC Manchester, as well as being invited to play at The Great Escape next year thanks to their Brighton show at The Marwood. Other people supporting KLOAK include Shell Zenner(Amazing Radio), Matt Barker(The Radio Alternative) and Johnny
Normal(Radio Warwickshire). Upcoming events include an appearance on Balcony TV and an intimate show at The Workshop London this August.
