Josh Ritter is an American singer-songwriter, guitarist and author who performs and records with The Royal City Band. Ritter is known for his distinctive Americana style and narrative lyrics.

Named one of the greatest songwriters alive, as declared by Paste Magazine, the Idaho-born Josh Ritter has managed to live up to his title, going from a down-and-out college student - playing open mic nights to touring worldwide. He played on the Late Show with David Letterman and soon after with Jools Holland. Ritter recorded his first album at only 21, supporting himself with temporary jobs in order to pay for college.

Down on his luck, Ritter decided to study folk music abroad in Scotland, and was spotted by an up and coming band that invited him to perform in Ireland. What started as a one-time gig quickly turned into a monumental career move for Ritter, and only a few short years and two albums later, his album Dave Odium made its debut on the Irish Charts at #2. Ritter has gone on to tour with some of the biggest names in music, including French Kicks and Brandi Carlisle, and is on tour for his latest EP, Bringing in the Darlings. He has also recently made his foray into the literary world, with his novel and CD audiobook, Bright's Passage.
