PRESENTED BY CAITLIN
Jordan Norman is a throwback singer/songwriter with influences both modern and retro. Since the age of fourteen he has been writing and performing his own music. Beginning at local venues in his hometown of Fort Saskatchewan, and then breaking into the Edmonton scene, he has been impressing audiences everywhere. Shows around Alberta soon followed and as recently as last year he was playing regularly in Dublin, Ireland. One highlight in Jordan's young career was when John Byrne of 93.9 Dublin South fm requested Jordan to be on his radio show for a one hour interview and live performance in Dublin, Ireland.
As with all artists, many different genres of music mix into a new style. Jordan is the product of listening to folk artists like Neil Young, Damien Rice and Dan Mangan on long road trips and spending weekends with inventors of grunge, Nirvana and the Pixies. Along with these magicians of music coincides The Weakerthans inspiring Jordan's carefully chosen lyrics and wisdom in describing life from such a young age. Mixing acoustic melodies with quiet loud rock has given Jordan the description of 'grunge goes acoustic' by many. Jordan is able to capitalize on beautiful melodies and captivating chord progressions inspired by these artists.
Jordan is now back in Canada, playing larger venues and working on recording an album. He makes regular appearances at the Hydeaway and can often be found collaborating and performing with other local artists in and around Edmonton such as Joe Nolan, Alex Vissia, and the dynamic duo Lindsey Walker and Drew Malcolm. A western Canadian tour is planned for the fall as well as an opening slot at an art gallery in New York City.
This young artist continues to grow as a songwriter and performer and is looking forward to recording a full length album which he sees as the next step in his music career.
