PRESENTED BY RACHEL FORSYTH

The name says it all when it comes to describing Sunshine
Coast collective Hayden Hack Infusion - a funk, Afro and
psychedelic aesthetic all driven by the South African main
man and guitarist Hayden Hack and his eight-piece funk
family. Essentially sharing a vibe with the likes of Fela Kuti
and a 70s-circa Zappa, see HHI as somewhat of an
experience that incorporates West African percussion, a
three-piece horn section (including Lee Hardisty, one of
the best sax players in the country), acidy guitar and
arrangements and a social commentary outlook on lyrics
with a vocal range from Hack himself that spans gravelly to
falsetto.
Over the last three years, Hack has evolved the outfit from
a simple duo to what it is now. Two EPs followed and
quickly set up the outfit as one of the most reputable live
experiences in South East Queensland. They've shared the
stage with the likes of Kooii, Kingfisha and Afro-Dizzi Act
and captivated audiences at Woodford Folk Festival,
Caloundra Music Festival, Island Vibe and Kuranda Roots
Festival amongst many.
Plans for 2014 are already well underway with a debut
album being polished up for release and extensive touring
to follow, something that will finally bring Hayden Hack
Infusion's blend of fat bass, high vibrational grooves and
party aesthetic to a national audience.
