PRESENTED BY JAMES MAAD

Gatomidi are a noisy, tuneful alternative rock trio formed in Valencia, Spain by two longtime friends Nolasco Contreras (guitar, vocals) and Jimena Quejigo (bass, vocals). They met at school of their hometown, Mota del Cuervo and years later they joined up with their first drummer Jorge but soon he left de band, is then when Julian Dolado completes the lineup of Gatomidi. In early 2011 arrived Facing Destiny, their demo album, and quickly became a staple of local scene for their sound, attitude and frantic live shows. Eight melodic, riotous pop tunes that caught the attention of press and managed to collect several awards around Spain.

Two years later the band released Enclosed Spaces, in 2013, which feature a harder yet still atmospheric sound that drew comparisons to Sonic Youth, My Bloody Valentine and The Horrors. With their debut álbum the trio expanded the tour throughout the country and appeared of great festivals.

Gatomidi self-produced their follow-up, 2015's The Flowers’ Cavern Part I, three tunes that advanced their return in spring 2017 with their full LP, The Flowers´ Cavern recorded in their own Recording Studio, whose name is the same as the álbum, since the place was an old flower store. The LP included The Velvet Underground cover I’m waiting for the man, a particular vision of this well-known song. In this work the band evolved into a more luminous, upbeat and with good vibes sound combined with a sonic wall that doesn't leave you indifferent.
