PRESENTED BY NANCY LaBARBIERA

Conceived in Austin, Texas, Denizens began their journey in the winter of 2016 from the offshoot of the former Houston-based act, Acadiana. Founded by Colin Clay, Dakota Ruhl and Kyle Garcia, the trio enlisted Chris Michael as their vocalist and rhythm guitarist and underwent a complete rebranding and sonic shift that eventually became Denizens.

In the following months, Denizens worked diligently in their studio writing and recording the first few tracks that would eventually become a debut EP. Taking pride in the collaborative nature of their songwriting, the group has managed to fuse their influences in to one, distinct sound that displays their respective tastes in a surprisingly succinct manner. Often drawing comparisons to indie favorites Local Natives and Young the Giant, Denizens frequently shows signs of technical influences ranging from Mutemath to Balance and Composure.

After a string of successful shows at premier Austin venues such as the Mohawk and Barracuda, Denizens recruited their longtime friend and talented guitarist, Stanley Sobolevsky, in the Fall of 2016. With the lineup finally feeling complete, the group turned their sights to the new year of 2017.

Currently, Denizens are self-recording their debut E.P., set for release in the late winter, early spring. With showcases booked for South By Southwest, 2017 is set to be the breakout year for the new indie rock act.

Denizens is: Chris Michael (Vocals/Guitar), Colin Clay (Guitar/Vocals), Dakota Ruhl (Drums), Kyle Garcia (Bass/Keys/Vocals), and Stanley Sobolevsky (Guitar).
