CRYSTAL CITIES were born from the ashes of, pop anthem rock band, Jefferson. After a nonprosperous label signing, Jefferson lost their momentum and briefly considered breaking up. Though these guys seem to have an unbreakable bond, tougher than an old leather jacket. Thank Goodness, their friendship and mutual, musical respect are a bond that prevailed. Crystal Cities was born on a balmy January night in the garage of Geoff Rana’s house, in Sydney’s Inner West. They were jamming an older original song, Cut Me Loose and by starting in a different key after a long session, it revealed a chilled, stripped back and eerily, ethereal version of the once energy driven track. This is the new sound that inspired Crystal Cities to become just that!

In March 2015 Crystal Cities began working with Daniel Vandenberg, (Son of the legendary Harry Vanda) at the famous Hercules Street Studios. When Daniel heard the demo he said “This needs to be recorded to Tape.”
The band’s 2nd single Talking to Myself is a perfect follow up with its dreamy indie pop, released Jan 29, 2016. Continuing that warm analogue sound that is signified in the Crystal Cities sound.

The head swims as its gorgeous intro tenderly carries the conscious away. The vocals of lead singer Geoff Rana, soft and angelically unique, surprise and delight as they soar effortlessly. And while it’s a chilled track that you can just kick back to, in the same breath, it has a tempo to which you can gently groove to." Callum
