Barrio Calavera is a band which combines ska, cumbia, reggae, punk, boleros and latinamerican folklore into a blender. They add thoughts against discrimination and social problems, neighborhood stories, about loves and street experiences. The result is a powerful juice of musical energy, party, reflection, criticism and integration.
They have eight years playing and are among the most known bands of fusion rock from Peru. The band is integrated by Winsho (voice), Aníbal Dávalos (bass), Pablo ‘Skacore’ (guitar), Mijail Palacios (drums) and Shakaman (keyboard).
They have participated in several concerts and music festivals in Lima, as well as internationally.
In May – April 2013, they started a tour around Mexico with nine concerts in different cities, as Mexico F.D., Toluca, Texococo and Cuernavaca, sharing stages with bands as La Tremenda Korte, Inspector, Skatalites and Chico Trujillo. Also playing at the mythical “Chopo”, receiving a really good welcome.
In Peru, they have opened for bands as The Skatalites (Jamaica), Jarabe de Palo (Spain), Kapanga (Argentina), Los Rabanes (Panama) and shared stage with the pioneers of Peruvian cumbia “Los Destellos”, “Los Mirlos”, “Juaneco y su combo” and with the most outstanding bands of Peruvian rock in music festivals as “Rock en el Parque” and “Acustirock”, among others. In June 2014, they participated at the International Festival “Selvamonos” in the middle of the Peruvian jungle, being one of the most outstanding bands of the festival.
Last year, they were part of the line up from the important ecuatorian festival “Quito Fest”, highlighting notoriously for their musical proposal. Lately the band appeared at the biggest food festival from Latin America “Mistura”, getting a great receiving, being one of the most celebrated shows of the festival.
They are about to present their new álbum “Kumbiamerikan Rockers”, which has the international features: Jorge Serrano (Los Autenticos Decadentes), Emilio Regueira (Los Rabanes) and Aldo Asenjo (Chico Trujillo).
