Happy Birthday, Time Out Delhi! | Azaan Khan sings "Aisa Koi Sheher"
Time Out Delhi celebrates it's 5th Anniversary in the city!
As part of Time Out's celebrations, we got Azaan Khan, a city-based artist, to compose a song as an ode to the city of Delhi.
Azaan was born in Dehradun. His early years were spent growing up in a family of music and musicians. His father Ustaad Shujaat Khan is today one of the most sought after musicians of our time. His grandfather Ustaad Vilayat Khan is considered to be the legend of the sitar. This makes Azaan the 8th generation of Ustaad Imdaad Khani gharana of music.
At the age of 14, after having enrolled at The Delhi School of Music, Azaan started performing at various school festivals, and turned to a new mentor, Mr.Gussy Rikh, who was the lead guitarist of the band Euphoria, to teach him techniques of the electric guitar. Balanced with this training, he continued the Riyaaz sessions held at home, and took part in his father's lessons to senior students of the gharaana.
The unique blend of western classical and Indian classical music has helped him to make his own niche in the world of upcoming musicians.
Azaan is an alumnus from the prestigious "KMMC" music conservatory in Chennai, run by A.R. Rehman.
A multi-faceted musical talent, Azaan scores music for many projects, is working with Bollywood duo Salim-Suleman, and has recently debuted an album on SaReGaMa records.
