Having spent the better part of the past 12 months developing as a band and tailoring their sound, Ballarat rock outfit APES are back with their new single 'Pull The Trigger' a track drenched in rhythmically poignant verses saturated in energetic choruses. Every melodic and manic layer effortlessly melts into another and what is left is 'Pull The Trigger'.
Hot on the tail of their debut single ‘Seven’, Melbourne four-piece APES came to the attention of Australia’s National youth broadcaster Triple j, and then some serious love from UK’s BBC Radio 1.
A mix of searing garage-rock and stamp-your-feet-shout-out-loud choruses are set to put APES firmly on the map both home and abroad.
Led by vocalist and guitarist Benjamin Dowd the APES sound is one that owes as much to the indie punk bombast of the Hives as it does the moody atmospherics of Black Rebel Motorcycle Club and to the halcyon years of Australia’s illustrious rock’n’roll and garage/punk past.
Combining an ear for scrappy, rough and ready melodies with strong hooks (and those can’t forget ‘em choruses) APES stamp the sound as their own. Having played shows around the country with likes of Kingswood, Dune Rats, Yacht Club DJs, FIDLAR (USA), Stonefield, The Love Junkies plus their own tours; APES high energy driven live show landed them spots on 2013’s Big Day Out and Groovin The Moo Festivals.
Bunkered down in the studio for the beginning of 2014 the band has been busy writing and recording for a new release, pencilled in for the 2nd half of the year. With a show just announced with UK’s Royal Blood and more just around the corner, 2014 is shaping up to be another busy year of hours and hours in the tour van, beer soaked floors and sweat filled band rooms.
