This song tells the story of a person, who is constantly brought into contact with paranormal activity, that holds no other explanation than that there is evidence that an afterlife exists. Believing that all matter is energy, the line "from the past, comes a spark" describes how this activity becomes part of our life here and now. We all have the sensation of "Deja'", feeling like we have experienced some event once before , but also that the connection between past and future is very strong, and leaves its imprint on us everyday. Some are more attuned to this sensation than others. Using the expression, C'est la vie,.... "thats life", is the songs way of saying this happens to all of us more often than we might think.
