"Sittin On Top Of The World" came to me at a crossroads in my life. I had just made a pretty big decision to end a relationship that I was in and was toying with the idea of moving out of California. Although I am from CA it seemed at the time that Tennessee was calling. For years people had told me to move to Nashville for music. So one day I sat on my back porch in Los Angeles. My back porch faced a very busy (with foot traffic) dead end street. It was very busy because the Dead End street became a huge park. People from all over LA would walk their dogs and themselves just past my porch. I began kind of writing a song to myself. One of those songs, that really, I was convincing myself that everything was going to be alright. I felt like I was out on my porch singing and writing for all the world to see (in a sense). I took the point of view as someone else writing this song for me. So the the first few lines of it "What do you want? What did you have? Is it really what you need?" were the beginning of breaking down everything that had happened to me in my life to that very second and looking to what was ahead. So the song wrote itself like most people say. One thing I left out was the bridge. I had no bridge and continued to play the song with no bridge. Once I moved to Nashville and felt comfortable in my surroundings, enough to call it home, the Bridge to the song came to me. "Once you find it, Don't ever let it go"
