What a night!
We celebrated BalconyTV Hamburg's 2nd birthday last Saturday on the notorious Reeperbahn. Or maybe I should say: We celebrated it ABOVE the Reeperbahn. What would suit better to BalconyTV than to have the anniversary on our tiny balcony? Nothing. And so we did.
We had a great line up with quite big Hamburg acts such as Ruben Cossani, Neil Hickethier and Graziella Schazad. From 6pm to 8pm we had Singersongwriters playing on the huge stages on the Spielbudenplatz - just under the balcony where we produce our shows on.
From 8pm to 11pm we had the bands play by turns on the balcony and on the big stages while me (Johanna) and Lars did the presenting - as well in turns on the balcony and on the stages. We felt a bit like being Eurovision Song Contest presenters. Hilarious!
In addition to that we showed best of clips of BalconyTV Hamburg on the huge windows under our balcony, which was quite a cool effect indeed. Maybe we should do that more often. Then whole Reeperbahn heared what was going on at Balcooonyyy Teveeee. (Video about the event to come.
The last act who was to play on the big stage was Schluck den Druck from Berlin which means something like "swallow the pressure". They are a live performing electro act in neon masks and loads of bass and jumping going on. Great stuff. While they were playing the place was packed with people despite the rain.
Oh well, talking of rain. That actually was the only thing that went wrong that night: It was raining cats and dogs as you English speaking people like to say. What a pity! But I had not figured out a way to control the weather yet and my attemps to flirt with Petrus (the saint who is supposably responsible for weather) did not work well. Damn this!
Nevertheless, we Hamburg people are used to rain and so the rain could not bring down the great athmosphere of the people who had been brave enough to come outside.
For all those, who weren't brave enough for the rain we had an aftershowparty going on in the club above which we produce our shows from 11pm onwards.
Wow, I can only repeat: What I night. We found ourselves having a Fischbrötchen (something like a fish roll) at the harbour of Hamburg at 7am in the morning.
I think this was the first 2nd birthday where alcohol was served...
To the next two years!
