Album - COME DOWN WITH ME - ERRORS - 7/10

I first listened to Error’s newest album, Come Down With Me, under the Argentineansun. It was perfect. The expansive sounds: the dance beats with post rock tones was perfect for relaxing in the heat and staring up at the big blue sky.“Bridge or Cloud” floated me into the sky with it’s light synth notesand “The Erskine Bridge” made me feel like I was in a fantasy world with it’s expansive sound and ethereal bells.“Supertribe” sounded so hip by the pool. I just wanted to be that Frenchwoman talking.

Yet,back in the Canadian snow and dirty spring, this album has fermented into something less than lovely. It’s beats get boring afterwhile, mere dance fodder with post-rock elements. It doesn’t unfold, and has no hidden surprises. “Antipode” is heavy andchaotic with shoe-gazing elements thrown on top and “Sorry about the Mess”sounds like a poster child for bad post-rock.

I think it’s fair to say that Error’s follow up album has some lovely points. It effortlessly blends together indie dance beats with cliché post-rock time signatures and chord progressions. But don’t expect anything deep or long lasting from these UK lads, just good dance beats for smart people.
