Midnight Youth are a rock n' roll band. A real band, whose music and group identity would make you rush to discover where you could sign on and join up. It's a sound you don't hear much anymore, but it's unmistakeable and it's what you'll hear when listening to the new songs from Midnight Youth.
Hard as it is to believe, it's been three years since we last heard from the group. Their ubiquity in the mainstream at the time betraying the two years of grunt work and dues paying they'd put in to become an "overnight success".
Their singles 'The Letter' and 'All On Our Own' gave the charts a shake-up, bringing stadium-filling hooks and rousing choruses back into fashion while simultaneously going Platinum in the process.
Since then they've been largely quiet, at lease on the home front, but you better believe they weren't resting on any perceived laurels. Instead the band went out into the world and did what they'd always done; taken their music to the people.
Tours in America and a relentless gig schedule across the ditch in Australia saw Midnight Youth solidifying as a musical unit, tightening and toughening up and enthralling audiences with their raucous live energy.
And that's what you hear when you listen to their songs; Midnight Youth is not just five musicians playing together, it's a group, a musical hive mind, a gang.
Tune in again soon!

JOSH LEYS loves to get hands-on in all aspects of his music. Unsurprisingly he's drawing a lot attention for his knack for writing a great hook and catchy chorus -- as you can hear in his singles 'Miracle' and 'To Be Creating.' But what is less known is that he also produced both tracks and wrote the script for the accompanying music video, calling on director Ed Davis to turn Josh's imagination in...to visual reality. On top of the self-penned singles and videos, Josh is half of hiphop beatmakers Metronome Productions, has beatboxed at Big Day Out for three years running, has appeared in films, tv series, and adverts, and yet somehow he's still an approachable and lovable dude. From his homebase in Onehunga, Auckland, Josh writes from feeling - sometimes it's a happy groove-based jam into looping pedal, sometimes it's a guitar and a frustrated search for inspiration at 3am. "Hiphop is a big influence for me. Songwriting, singing, beatboxing - a lot of what I do is inspired by hiphop or hinges off that. Like the drum sound in Miracle, or putting a John Mayer kinda guitar vibe over a beatbox." we can expect to hear more originals and see more of the Josh Leys live show: "I love being in the studio and of course the acting thing is fun, but for me performing is my biggest passion. I've had such a great time recently - the shows I've played have been really inspiring for me." Keep an eye out for Josh Leys' debut EP to be recorded later this year.

From an early age, music has been a driving force for Chris Cope. Picking up Drums at age 12 and Guitar at 14, exemplified his musical aptitude, which was recognized at age 16 - being awarded ʻBest Jazz Drummerʼ at the National Jazz Awards.
Chris is probably best known for his time as guitarist in the band Eight who enjoyed commercial success with a Rock Radio airplay #1, Gold selling album and live performances which included Big Day Out and opening for International acts like Creed and Incubus.
A strong desire to develop his own career saw Chris move to London for 2 years. There, he spent time playing in the English Music Scene as well as support on a European tour for Euro-star Lucy Silvas. Upon his return and keen to re-introduce himself to New Zealand, Chris released his acoustic EP, ʻThe Way it Looksʼ.
Now, after some time writing as well as touring in Southeast Asia and at home, Chris gives us ʻWorld Without Youʼ -- the first single release from his forthcoming full length album.
