READER WIVES IN WHELANS

Nothing like a Sunday with Ghostbusters 2.
Went to see the Readers Wives gig last night upstairs in Whelans. I've never been in that room. Tis very nice. Although at some times I felt the floor would fall through as the band rocked the joint.
It was a bloomin marvelous gig. I encourage everybody and anybody to go out and get the bands album, but especially there after to seek them out like.
The gig had tons of highlights, but my favorite moment was when the band were heckled into playing this song. Apparently they never play it anymore. For what reason, I don't know.

READERS WIVES and U2 NOSTALGIA TRIP

Was watching Bono and the Edges performance at the Nelson Mandela birthday gig last night. Great to see Bonos voice was in full form.
After the watching the vid, I found myself watching some vintage U2 interviews. This is a particularly great one from the Late Late Show 20 years ago. It comes in five parts. Heres part 2, 3, 4 and 5.
There are some very interesting answers in the mix. Good stuff. Great to see the old Late Late footage too. How this type of stuff hasn't been archived online and DVD to me is a mystery to me.
Heading to see the great Readers Wives gig tonight in Whelans. Readers Wives performed and were nominated at last weeks BalconyTV Music Video Awards. Here they are on The Last Broadcast earlier in the month.

SUNDAY WORLD

I should have told the world by now, but we've teamed up with Irelands biggest selling Sunday newspaper The Sunday World, to feature our past weeks shows on their new website. It works out as more exposure for the artists who feature on BalconyTV. The Sunday World were a big help in staging last weeks BalconyTV Music Video Awards, so kudos to them we say!
Here is a link to the new Sunday World website. You will see our videos featured on the front page.

BalconyTV Music Video Awards 2008

Thanks to all who attended the BalconyTV Music Video Awards last night in the Sugar Club. We hope your entertainment was polar opposite to our stress in organizing the event.

It was great to see so many recognizable faces in the crowd who have supported BalconyTV to date. It was also good to see a few of the people who performed on BalconyTV in the past couple of years.

The highlight of the night was undoubtedly the performance of Alberto The Musicbox from BalconyTV Hamburg who had the audience wailing in delight. My personal other highlights were RoySeven who opened the show, and AlanAlda and Tango Flash Mob.

Other great performances on the night came from the legendary John Spillane, the classically gifted Zoe Conway and John McIntyre, songstriss Adela Meally, the cuss wording Readers Wives, The Kinetiks with their rocking finale, and Soularia for traveling from far to be with us on the night.

Our award presenters on the night were Colm Lynch, Roddie Cleere from WLRFM, Lauren Guillery, Paul from RoySeven, Lars and Johanna from BalconyTV Hamburg, Leanne Harte, and Una Mullally.

If anyones interested in photos of the night you can find a chunk here provided by Entertainment.ie.

MONDAY RAMBLINGS

Its a bank holiday Monday here in Dublin which means everything is shut down for the day. The sun is shining and the weather is scorching. It was like waking up in an oven this morning. Its strange, because last week or the week before it was actually quite cold. That's global warming for you. No matter what weather happens these days its global warming.
I have been absolutely woeful with blogs of late. So lazy on the subject. Inspirationless, if thats a word. I need to get back to it. But what to write about?
Global warming? Nah, its been done to death.
My Irish Broadband connection speed has been pitifully slow of late. Once again I have been tempted to throw the box from the balcony, take a shotgun and practice my play pigeon shooting. Coupled with our external hard drive that stores all the shows acting up that explains why the daily shows are uploaded later that usual of late.
This blog is so directionless.
I saw Indiana Jones. Wasn't nearly as bad as I was expecting. Its quite fun actually. Not as good as the others, but worth the view. Here is a great review of it by the Angry Video Game Nerd. I largely agree with what he says.
The Angry Video Game Nerd is my new YouTube discovery. Hes basically this loop the loop, who review very bad old Nintendo video games. Well worth the look for any video game or Nintendo geeks out there. Heres just one example of what he does.
