The BalconyTV Music Music Video Awards 2008 promises to be a great night with the official line announced. BalconyTV supports and encourages creativity and variety in music. We hope the line up we have organised for this years awards show reflects this.
Admission will be free on the night, so we hope to see as many as you as possible. Performing at this years BalconyTV Music Video Awards on June 20th in the Sugar Club are:

ROYSEVEN
RoySeven won the Best Band award at the BalconyTV Music Video Awards 2007, and the Hope of 2007 award at the Meteor Awards in 2006.

THE KINETIKS
The Kinetiks are one of the most exciting young bands to come out of Dublin in recent years. Having been nominated for the Hope of 2008 at the recent Meteor Awards, the band have received some wildly enthusiastic reviews -

READERS WIVES
Led by Dublin's Morrissey (Mongrel Magazine) Niall James Holohan, Readers Wives have one of the most authentic sounds on the Irish music scene. Having just released their debut album, they have received overwhelmingly positive reviews. Here is just a small taste -

JOHN SPILLANE
John Spillanes debut solo album 'The Wells of The World' (1997) was described by Hot Press's Oliver Sweeney as, 'not only a striking and individual musical statement, but one of the albums of this or any other year.' His compositions have been described as, "highly original in concept, full of imagery and wonder".
In March 2003 John won the prestigious Meteor Ireland Music Award in the Best Folk/Traditional Act category.
Johns latest album My Dark Rosaleen & the Island of Dreams produced by John Reynolds has just been released by EMI records.

ZOE CONWAY AND JOHN MCINTYRE
Irish fiddle player, Zoë Conway, is a prodigious talent, equally at home in both traditional Irish and classical styles. Her list of achievements belies her youthful age as Zoë has performed across the globe, both as a solo artist and also playing with international acts such as Riverdance, Damien Rice, Rodrigo y Gabriella, Nick Cave and Lou Reed among others. She is a holder of the much coveted All-Ireland Senior Fiddle Champion title, winning the prestigious competition in 2001. She was also recently voted Best Traditional Female of the Year in Irish Music Magazine.
Zoe has been touring with guitarist, John McIntyre. John is a member of the well known rock band The Revs. He has toured worldwide with the band and has performed at festivals including Oxygen, Slane, Reading and Rockpalast. As a result of playing with The Revs, John was voted "Best Musician of the Year" in a readers poll in Hotpress Magazine.

ADELA MEALLY
Adela Meally is a new talent on the Irish music scene and somewhat of a BalconyTV discovery. Well atleast we can try and take some credit. Adelas songs are getting more and more airplay, with John Creedon of RTE Radio 1 describing Party for Three as "Fantastic stuff ... hit written all over it" and Michelle Harding from RTE’s Acoustic Highway also giving it a spin and highly recommending it. A review from the Tipperary Star describes her music as "Shockingly good" and most recently, kclr fm are playing the single several times a day.

ALANALDA and TANGO FLASH MOB
AlanAlda are one of the great undiscovered gems to have appeared on BalconyTV. They feature BalconyTVs very own Pauline Freeman as a band member. The band provided a magnificent soundtrack to BalconyTVs Tango Flash Mob show back in June 2007; a show which has been watched over 60'000 times!

ALBERTO THE MUSIC BOX
Alberto the Musicbox, is a beat-boxing superstar from Germany. Alberto has appeared on MTV and other German TV stations. Some highlights of his career include appearances as support for 50 Cent and his cooperation with the worldwide known beatbox-Star Michael Winslow from Police Academy and Spaceballs.

SOULARIA
Soularia is an eleven piece band from Hamburg known for their brilliant live-performances in the notorious Mojo-club in Hamburg and through other national and international tours. Soularia have played the support act for the British Funk and Acid-Jazz legend Incognito and The Temptations during the Westport Festival in Hamburg. Soularia combines a range of different traditions and influences-notably funk, soul and jazz- into their own personal style.
