HAIL HAIL

Good morning to one and all. As I write this I notice that its a startlingly bright morning.

Apologies for the lack of an Australian Singer Song Writer sensation on todays show as promised yesterday, unfortunatly todays act was a no show.

The BalconyTV crew were none too impressed, let me tell you.

Nevermind, we thought it would be a good opportunity over the next few days to remaster a few videos that we never actually posted correctly.

The reason for this has often been bad compressing, which has led a number of videos to be of very bad quality. Now that I've figured it out to a degree, I should really do the bands performance justice. They did afterall climb up 15 flights of stairs. They didnt do it for nothing.

That and I'm going to Glasgow tonight to see the Celts!!!

Tune in tomorrow!!!

Returning again

Ok, I have to get back in this blog game. I'm either full of motivation, or I have none.

Congratulations to Lorraine O' Reilly, who in just a week has shot straight to the top of the BalconyTV charts with...4742 views!!!! Which surpasses our previous top performer, Paul Brady by like loads.

I'm asking for a stewerds inquiry!!! Not that Lorraine is anything other than magnificent...but 4742 views...thats just in-cred-eee-ble.

The Balcony is flooded today. Which has m worried, because tonight we have a Australian singing sensation booked to play. We'll have to think quick, like we always do - i.e. Traffic wardens, Tea making, Rubber ducks.

We had a great email from one Ben Keenan who suggested a new BalconyTV slogan.

"It's up there with the best of them...about 35 feet to be exact."

We like it Ben. Thank you. Any other suggestions out there?

Happy BDAY Vincent

Happy day after Birthday to Vincent McKeever who had his birthday yesterday - obviously. If you don't know Vincent, he performed on only the forth ever show of BalconyTV.Com. Vincent celebrated in style last night, crooning the night away in Dublins Kareoke hotspot Ukiyo bar. He played alongside BalconyTVs own Tom Milletts and Skindives Marc Mittagg.
As I write this drills are going off on the building site accross the street, so I must stop. Enjoy Vincent!

MONDAY MONDAY

I've just noticed that the spanking new building opposite BalconyTV (on Dame Street) is for let!

The building with the fake dome, tacky green lighting strips and cheap window job (I'm told) does not already serve any purpose, and hence is for let.

The building which replaced a nice patch of city greenery is for let.

The building that hides Dublin Castle is for let.

I am getting repetitive here, but isn't that pretty amazing? Our thinking was that the council built it for the purpose of it being a council building, which made it just about excuseable. Now it seems just pointless.

Yes I am tutting loudly and my eyes are rolling up to the sky, as my head shakes left and right.

I have just watched that Haughey documentary series. So one might be tempted to suspect that a shady deal or two may have gone on but one would never actually say that, and I'm certainly not.

Keep watching the building!!! I mean the Balcony! Silly.

And with that todays video is uploaded, and I'm off.

A COMPLAINT ABOUT THE SPIEGELTENT

Hello all. I have returned to the Sunday blog. The good thing about having a blog is that you can moan about the injustice and greed of the world whenever you feel like it. Its a good way to vent.

I was at the SpiegelTent last night and witnessed a truelly incredible gig. The arena is absolutely amazing. It should be there all the time.

But unfortunatly its not all wine and roses. The gig which kicked off at 8.40, was brought to and end by the Spiegeltent people at 9.30, to the anger of the artists and the crowd who has paid 15 EURO in.

They were all instructed to leave the tent, and pay a further 20 Euros to get back in to hear some more tunes.

But thats not my main complaint. Mingling around in the back stage tent after the gig, I noticed that the Spiegeltent were also requesting that the artists leave. They wanted the artists to leave the area, and pay 20 Euros to get back in!!! The artists who were just entertaining the Spiegeltent crowd. The artists who are not exactly the most profiteering of groups.

I approached the tents producer, and complained. I told her it was a very bad policy. She wouldn't budge. Although she undoubtedly could. She claimed that were people outside who were willing to pay 20 Euro in.

There was about 500 - 1000 people who were willing to pay 20 Euro in. I ask what difference would 15 - 20 musicians make.

The sad thing about this country, not only the greed, and the misuse of power is also the publics ability to be rolled over and to accept this type of behaviour. Acceptance is not good enough.

I personally don't like it. And as principle wouldn't pay to get back in after seeing how the artists were treated. But alas many other people did, including some friends. 'Get over it' is what I was told.

I was standing outside the tent in the end absolutely gob smacked, when the bands came out after me, equipment in hand. They were totally shocked at how they were treated.

So now you know all about it, go and post some abusive messages on the SpiegelTent myspace. www.myspace.com/spiegeltent...otherwise post a comment here telling me to 'Get over it'!!!!

SHES A GREAT WRITER IS PAULINE

We all complain from time to time about our jobs.
Even here at the balcony where everything is usually rosy and bright we still have the odd bad day.
Well if you're feeling like that today check out page 24 of the Daily Mail.
It shows a Chinese Chicken factory - 11,000 workers dressed in matching pink uniforms chopping up chicken.
They are all standing in big lines. It looks pretty grim.
The balcony message today is stop complaining , we have a lot to be thankful for !
Especially those of you who are on the dole and get to watch day time TV all day and drink cheap beer :0)
I'm not promoting the daily mail or anything but just to mention they are doing a brilliant David Attenborough DVD promotion at the moment.
There's a token in the paper every day for the next 10 days. You bring it in to Dunnes or Easons and get a free DVD.
I've collected 4 so far and they are brilliant. Dunnes on Georges street have them.
That's all for today.
Hopefully Stephen will be back for tomorrows special 100th blog !!!

Paulines Blog

Stephens head has completely ran a blank, he hasn't talked in days and cant write the blog.
So I will take it upon myself to compose the daily ramblings ....
I think the reason Stephen has lost it is down to a big run in with a certain store over a certain mp3 player.
We may have a live rein action of this on the balcony later in the week !
Anyway, I went to see "Little Miss Sunshine" last night. It is a really brilliant film and I recommend everyone to go see it even just to see the son blowing the paper straw cover at his dads head (this made me laugh a lot !)
There's a real buzz about the balcony this week as we are celebrating our 100th episode on Friday15th September !
It's gona be a good one folks so make sure to watch ...actually we don't have a plan for it yet so any suggestions would be very welcome :0)
Personally I think Stephen should present me and Tom with a balcony t-shirt and trucker cap of our own. That would be nice, here's hoping !
Anyway, if you're at a loose end this weekend why not hit the road and head to Galway ! Alanalda are playing a gig there in a little pub festival thingy , more details to follow on http://www.myspace.com/alanaldatheband

Right, back to work, have a nice day y'all !

Classified

How much can one write in this space that is completly inane? Quite alot.

We had some phone calls from people earlier in the week suggesting that our content earlier in the week that was not music related was not good enough?!!

What are you talking about people. Other people would complain when we had music on that there was not enough personality.

You can't win, can you?

We have re hung our dodgy BalconyTV sign. We are using silver heavy duty tape, purchased by Pauline, which is proving to be quite effective.

Ok, thats it really.

Really.

Steven Segal has nothing to do with this blog

Congratulations to Paul Brady. His video on BalconyTV has been viewed more than 2'000 times!!!
Just goes to show, if your a legend, your a legend.

Went to the Battle of the Axe last night at the Hapenny Inn. Brilliant night. Compared by Keith Farnan (Who Has Appaered on The Balcony). He did a smashing job. We went to see some friends of ours called THE DIET OF WORMS.

Check them out if you get a chance

http://www.myspace.com/dietofworms

And the night was wrapped up by Dave McSavage, who was bleedin amazink.

He has also been on the balcony...

Regarding our search for all things Quackser Fortune...We have almost nailed the interview with the writer, but by all accounts, hes a busy man.

Buy the DVD!!!

Tomorrow, tomorrow.

Hello all.

Is this the hottest day in September history?

I doubt it.

We at Balcony TV think we have located Gabriel Walsh, writer of Quackser Fortune Has A Cousin In The Bronx. More news on that tomorrow. Dont forget you can buy the DVD for about 3.31 on Amazon. Not bad at all.

IN SEARCH OF QUAKSER...

So we are on the look out for the people involved in the Irish Film Classic 'Quakser Fortune Has A Cousin In The Bronx.'

First things first people, if you havn't seen this film, it was made entirely in Dublin in 1970, and stars Gene Wilder and Margot Kidder.

We are first of all trying to find the writer of the film - Gabriel Walsh. We want Gabriel on the Balcony!!!

Our internet detective work tells us that Gabriel may be about to premiere a new play at St. John's Theatre & Arts Centre in Kerry on the 7th no less. Unless ofcoarse its not the same Gabriel Walsh. In which case we are in big trouble.

Emails will go out, and we will endeavor to keep you posted.

By the way, if you have not seen Quakser Fortune Has A Cousin In The Bronx, you may try buying it online here:

http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/offer-listing/B00000JT2S/ref=dp_olp_2/202-8682985-5027035?ie=UTF8

You can buy it for as little as 3.31 from Amazon!!!

QUACKER FORTUNE HAS A COUSIN IN THE BRONX!!!

FInally managed to upload todays BalconyTV. Majella Murphy, what a great voice.

Pauline says she'll definitly buy the album!!!

Last night myself and Tom watched Quackser Fortune Has A Cousin In The Bronx. Has anyone seen this film? Completly bizarre.

We had the tip off to watch it from Paulines folks...

It stars Gene Wilder and Supermans Margot Kidder. Filmed in 1970, the whole film is set in Dublin.

You have to see this film to get a great slice of old Dublin.

So we are going to launch a campaign here on BalconyTV, to find anyone involved in the making of the film Quackser Fortune Has A Cousin In The Bronx. Anyone out there who knows anyone who was in the film...get in touch,

We want each and every person on the Balcony to speak about there experience.

By the way, tomorrows BalconyTV is a cracker...

CLEAR AS A WIRE

Hello and welcome to September. So ofcoarse after yesterday with uploading problems, I went home to use my trusty Clearwire. Irony struck, and the Clearwire box I was moaning about yesterday seized up and completly died. I had to call Clearwire complaining that I needed a new box, and that aside the signal isn't always great. I asked could I get new box delivered today. Flatly refuted. So I moaned and moaned and moaned and moaned and treatened to quit the service, and then I got one ten minutes later.
How interesting was that story?
Seriously though, kudos to clearwire for getting me a new box in no tme...despite lenghty nags.
Till tomorrow...
